Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Delflex** is a sterile, nonpyrogenic intraperitoneal peritoneal-dialysis solution containing dextrose monohydrate, sodium lactate, calcium chloride, sodium chloride, and magnesium chloride. Developed and manufactured by Fresenius Medical Care, it is used to treat chronic kidney failure in patients maintained on peritoneal dialysis. Dextrose is the principal osmotic agent: it establishes an osmotic gradient across the peritoneal membrane that promotes ultrafiltration, while the electrolyte and lactate-buffer components help support solute exchange and acid-base balance. Delflex is supplied in multiple dextrose strengths and electrolyte compositions, including low-magnesium and low-calcium formulations.
