Overview

Deyou is a pharmaceutical preparation containing pronase granules (20,000 IU) and sodium bicarbonate (1 g), manufactured by Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical. It is primarily used as a premedication for gastric cleaning to improve mucosal visibility during endoscopic procedures, such as magnetically controlled capsule endoscopy (MCE) and traditional gastroscopy. Pronase is a mixture of proteolytic enzymes derived from *Streptomyces griseus* that degrades the protein components of gastric mucus, thereby reducing its viscosity and facilitating its removal. Sodium bicarbonate is included in the formulation to neutralize gastric acid and maintain an alkaline intragastric pH (6-8), which is the optimal range for pronase's enzymatic activity.
