dezamizumab

Dezamizumab is a fully humanized recombinant IgG1 monoclonal antibody that targets the serum amyloid P component (SAP), a universal constituent of amyloid deposits implicated in the pathogenesis of systemic amyloidosis. Upon intravenous administration following depletion of circulating SAP by miridesap (CPHPC), dezamizumab binds to residual SAP within tissue amyloid deposits. This binding activates the classical complement pathway and triggers rapid clearance of the deposits by macrophage-derived multinucleated giant cells. Dezamizumab was developed as a potential therapy for various forms of systemic amyloidosis but its clinical development has been discontinued[1][4][5][6].
