DFA-02

DFA-02 is an investigational, bioresorbable antibacterial gel developed for the prophylaxis of surgical site infections (SSI). It is a localized antimicrobial therapy consisting of a combination of two broad-spectrum antibiotics: **gentamicin**, an aminoglycoside, and **vancomycin**, a glycopeptide. The formulation is designed as a gel to be applied directly into the surgical incision during closure, allowing for high local concentrations of antibiotics at the site of potential infection while minimizing systemic exposure and associated toxicities. DFA-02 has been primarily evaluated in patients undergoing abdominal and colorectal surgeries. The product was originally developed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and has been licensed to companies including CHD Bioscience and Armis Biopharma for clinical development.
