DFDBA + Bio-Gide Membrane is a combination therapy used in dental and periodontal regenerative procedures. It consists of demineralized freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA), an allogeneic bone graft material known for its osteoinductive properties, combined with the Geistlich Bio-Gide membrane, a resorbable bilayer collagen membrane derived from porcine sources. The primary mechanism involves using the DFDBA to promote new bone formation within defects or extraction sockets while the collagen membrane acts as a barrier to prevent soft tissue ingrowth and support guided bone regeneration (GBR) or guided tissue regeneration (GTR). This combination is widely used for ridge preservation after tooth extraction, augmentation around implants, filling of periodontal defects, and reconstruction of alveolar ridges[1][3][6]. The approach leverages the biological activity of DFDBA for rapid osteoinduction and the physical barrier function of the non-cross-linked collagen membrane to optimize healing environments.
