Overview

DFL24412 is a small molecule antagonist of the Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8 (TRPM8) channel, currently under development by Dompé Farmaceutici for the treatment of chronic low back pain. TRPM8 is a non-selective cation channel that acts as a primary sensor for cold temperatures and menthol; however, its aberrant activation is implicated in various chronic pain states, including neuropathic and inflammatory pain. By selectively inhibiting TRPM8, DFL24412 aims to reduce the hypersensitivity and pain signaling associated with chronic low back conditions. It is administered orally and is currently being evaluated in Phase 2 clinical trials to assess its efficacy and safety profile in patients suffering from persistent lumbar pain.
