Drug intelligence / Profile preview
DFN-10 is an investigational subcutaneous formulation of rizatriptan, a serotonin 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist (triptan), developed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and its subsidiary Promius Pharma. It is designed for the acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults. By utilizing a subcutaneous injection route, DFN-10 aims to provide faster systemic absorption and a more rapid onset of action compared to traditional oral formulations of rizatriptan (such as Maxalt), which can be particularly beneficial for patients experiencing migraine-associated nausea or vomiting. DFN-10 has been evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial assessing its pharmacokinetics, safety, and tolerability in healthy volunteers.
