DFNZ

DFNZ is a novel synthetic opioid and a metabolite of the nitazene compound FNZ, discovered by researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It functions as a high-efficacy "superagonist" at the mu-opioid receptor (MOR). Preclinical studies indicate that DFNZ provides potent analgesia without the common side effects of traditional opioids, such as respiratory depression, tolerance, or high addiction potential. Its unique neurochemical profile involves slow-acting dopamine release rather than rapid bursts, which may reduce its rewarding effects compared to drugs like fentanyl or heroin. It is currently being explored as a potential therapy for acute and chronic pain, as well as a safer alternative for treating opioid use disorder.
