DG051

DG051 is a first-in-class, investigational small-molecule inhibitor of leukotriene A4 hydrolase (LTA4H). It was discovered and developed by deCODE genetics for the prevention of heart attack (myocardial infarction). LTA4H is an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a potent pro-inflammatory mediator implicated in increased risk of heart attack. By inhibiting LTA4H, DG051 reduces the production of LTB4, thereby aiming to decrease inflammation and lower cardiovascular risk. The drug has demonstrated high oral bioavailability and water solubility, with preclinical and early clinical studies showing effective reduction in LTB4 levels[1][2][3][5][7].
