CSB-001 is an investigational ophthalmic biologic drug developed by Claris Biotherapeutics for the treatment of neurotrophic keratitis, limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD), and corneal scars[2][3][5]. The active ingredient is a recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) with a five-amino acid deletion (dHGF)[2][8]. This modification enhances its therapeutic properties for ocular surface diseases. CSB-001 acts by modulating inflammation and accelerating wound healing in the eye, promoting proliferation of epithelial, endothelial, nerve, and stromal cells while also preventing or regressing fibrosis[7][8]. It is administered as a preservative-free ophthalmic solution via topical drops[1][3], formulated to be stable at room temperature and easy to use. The drug is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials for neurotrophic keratitis and Phase 1/2 trials for LSCD and cicatrix (corneal scarring)[4][5].
