DHNPB-0002 is a biologic drug candidate developed by Daehan Nupharm, currently in the preclinical stage for the treatment of cancer. It is designed as a biosimilar of **aflibercept** (marketed under the brand name Zaltrap for oncological indications). DHNPB-0002 is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of the extracellular domains of human vascular endothelial growth factor receptors 1 and 2 (VEGFR-1 and VEGFR-2) fused to the Fc portion of human IgG1. It functions as a soluble decoy receptor, often referred to as a "VEGF Trap," which binds with high affinity to vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), vascular endothelial growth factor-B (VEGF-B), and placental growth factor (PlGF). By sequestering these ligands, DHNPB-0002 prevents them from binding to and activating their cognate receptors on the surface of endothelial cells, thereby inhibiting angiogenesis, reducing vascular permeability, and slowing tumor growth. In the context of oncology, aflibercept is typically used in combination with chemotherapy for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer.
