Overview

DHP1401 is a small molecule drug originally isolated from the seeds of Ziziphus jujuba var. spinosa and developed for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Preclinical studies suggested that it has neuroprotective and memory-enhancing effects, potentially through modulation of AMPA receptors, mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), and protein kinases. In clinical trials involving patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease treated with donepezil, DHP1401 did not meet its primary efficacy endpoint but showed significant beneficial effects on secondary cognitive endpoints in certain subgroups. The most common adverse events were mild and included dizziness and metabolic or nutritional disorders. No remarkable safety concerns were observed during 24 weeks of administration[2][3][4][5][6].
