Overview

DIAB-PHC1 is a novel polyherbal formulation developed by Hamdard University for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is a hard gelatin capsule containing equal proportions of four standardized herbal extracts: *Syzygium cumini* (Jamun), *Momordica charantia* (Bitter melon), *Wrightia tinctoria* (Pala indigo), and *Gymnema sylvestre* (Gurmar). These ingredients are traditionally recognized for their hypoglycemic properties, which include insulin-mimetic effects, stimulation of insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells, and inhibition of intestinal glucose absorption. The formulation is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 clinical trials to compare its efficacy and safety against metformin in achieving glycemic control and reducing fasting blood glucose levels in adult patients.
