Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diabec is a multi-ingredient nutraceutical developed by Alfa Intes, specifically formulated to support retinal health in patients with inflammatory eye conditions. Its primary component is curcumin, delivered via the hydrophilic CurcuWIN carrier to enhance bioavailability. The formulation also includes Coenzyme Q10, lutein, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), vitamins C and E, and trace elements including zinc, copper, and selenium. Diabec acts as an adjuvant to standard pharmacological treatments for diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema by inhibiting the synthesis of inflammatory mediators and providing antioxidant protection to the retinal tissues. Clinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy when combined with standard treatments for diabetic macular edema and non-infectious uveitis.
