Overview

A combination therapy consisting of diacerein, a slow-onset anthraquinone IL-1 inhibitor, and methotrexate, a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD). This combination is used primarily for patients with rheumatoid arthritis who have an inadequate response to methotrexate alone. Diacerein is metabolized to rhein, its active form, and has shown potential benefits in reducing pain, improving joint function, and decreasing disease activity when added to methotrexate therapy.
