Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diantican sodium (FS-1101) is a novel, water-soluble camptothecin derivative developed by Hunan Fangsheng Pharmaceutical. It functions as a DNA topoisomerase I (TOP1) inhibitor, a class of drugs that interferes with the DNA replication process by stabilizing the TOP1-DNA cleavable complex. This stabilization prevents the re-ligation of DNA strands, resulting in permanent double-strand breaks and subsequent cell death. Diantican sodium is being developed for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, with a focus on colorectal, gastric, breast, and lung cancers. It aims to provide a more favorable solubility and safety profile compared to existing camptothecin analogues like irinotecan.
