Diaskintest is a recombinant tuberculosis allergen used as an intradermal skin test for the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB) infection. It is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of two specific antigens from *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*: Early Secretory Antigenic Target 6 kDa (ESAT-6) and Culture Filtrate Protein 10 kDa (CFP-10). These antigens are present in the RD1 region of the *M. tuberculosis* genome but are absent in the *Mycobacterium bovis* BCG vaccine strain and most non-tuberculous mycobacteria. Consequently, Diaskintest provides high specificity by differentiating between true TB infection and prior BCG vaccination, a major limitation of the traditional Tuberculin Skin Test (TST). Upon intradermal administration, the product triggers a delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) reaction in individuals sensitized to these specific antigens. Developed by Generium and implemented in the Russian Federation since 2009, it is used for screening and differential diagnosis of latent and active tuberculosis in both children and adults.
