Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diazepam nasal spray is a benzodiazepine anticonvulsant formulated for intranasal administration. It is used as a short-term treatment for seizure clusters (also known as acute repetitive seizures) that are different from a person's normal seizure pattern. The exact mechanism of action is not fully understood, but it is thought to involve potentiation of GABAergic neurotransmission resulting from binding at the benzodiazepine site of the GABAA receptor. VALTOCO utilizes an absorption enhancement technology called INTRAVAIL to enable noninvasive, enhanced intranasal delivery of diazepam.
