dibenzepin

Dibenzepin is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) of the dibenzo-epine group used primarily in Europe for the treatment of major depressive disorder. It acts mainly as a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (NRI), with similar potency to imipramine but generally fewer side effects. Dibenzepin also exhibits potent antihistamine activity through strong binding to histamine H1 receptor and has weak or negligible anticholinergic effects. Unlike many other TCAs, it lacks significant antiadrenergic and antiserotonergic properties. Its primary indication is depression; it may also have potential use in chronic neuropathic pain[1][5][7]. The drug is administered orally and has a relatively narrow therapeutic index[1].
