Dicitrinone C is a rare carbon-bridged citrinin dimer, a secondary metabolite isolated from fungi such as *Penicillium citrinum* and starfish-derived *Penicillium* species. It belongs to a class of compounds characterized by complex polycyclic structures derived from the dimerization of citrinin. Dicitrinone C has demonstrated significant biological activities in preclinical research, including potent antifungal effects against the plant pathogen *Colletotrichum gloeosporioides* and cytotoxic activity against human pancreatic cancer cell lines, such as BXPC-3 and PANC-1. Its anticancer mechanism involves the induction of apoptosis, specifically through the activation of the pro-apoptotic protein caspase-3.
