Overview

Dicitrinone G is a rare carbon-bridged citrinin dimer isolated from the marine-derived fungus *Penicillium sp.* GGF 16-1-2, which was originally found in symbiotic association with a starfish. As a small molecule research compound, it has demonstrated significant anti-pancreatic cancer activity and potent antifungal properties. Its mechanism of action in oncology involves the inhibition of pancreatic angiogenesis through the regulation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and the IL-18 pathway. Furthermore, dicitrinone G has been shown to induce apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cell lines, such as BXPC-3 and PANC-1, by activating caspase-3. In addition to its cytotoxic effects, the compound exhibits strong antifungal activity against pathogens like *Colletotrichum gloeosporioides*.
