Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Tronac Gel is a topical analgesic and anti-inflammatory combination product developed by Thrift Pharmaceuticals. It is formulated with diclofenac diethylamine, linseed oil, methyl salicylate, and menthol, and is indicated for the symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal conditions such as arthritis, backache, sprains, and strains. Diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), acts by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. Methyl salicylate and menthol serve as counter-irritants, activating TRPM8 receptors to produce a cooling sensation and provide localized analgesia. Linseed oil, rich in alpha-linolenic acid, provides additional anti-inflammatory support and facilitates the absorption of the active ingredients through the skin.
