Overview

Elfenac Power Nano Gel (also marketed as Elfenac Power Gel) is a topical combination formulation containing diclofenac sodium (4% w/w) and methyl salicylate. Developed by Captab Biotec, it is designed for the localized treatment of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions, such as osteoarthritis, sprains, strains, and joint stiffness. Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins. Methyl salicylate acts as a topical counterirritant and analgesic, penetrating deep into tissues to stimulate transient receptor potential (TRP) channels (such as TRPV1 and TRPA1) and produce a warming sensation that distracts from deeper pain, while also metabolizing into salicylic acid to provide additional local COX inhibition.
