Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Omnigel is a topical analgesic and anti-inflammatory gel developed and marketed by Cipla Health. It is a combination product containing diclofenac diethylamine, methyl salicylate, menthol, and linseed oil. Diclofenac acts as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis. Methyl salicylate and menthol serve as counter-irritants that provide a cooling sensation and help alleviate pain by stimulating sensory receptors. Linseed oil (flaxseed oil) is included to enhance the penetration of the active ingredients and provide additional anti-inflammatory benefits. It is primarily indicated for the relief of musculoskeletal pain, including backache, joint pain, sprains, and strains.
