Diclofenac + scopolamina is a combination drug consisting of two active pharmaceutical ingredients: - **Diclofenac** is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, leading to decreased synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain, inflammation, and fever. It is widely used for the treatment of pain and inflammatory conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, dysmenorrhea, acute migraine attacks, postoperative pain, and other musculoskeletal disorders[3][6][8]. - **Scopolamine** (also known as hyoscine) is an anticholinergic agent that acts primarily as a competitive antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. It inhibits parasympathetic nerve impulses responsible for smooth muscle contraction in the gastrointestinal tract and other organs. Scopolamine is mainly used to prevent nausea/vomiting associated with motion sickness or postoperative states but also has antispasmodic effects on smooth muscle[5]. The combination may be considered for situations where both analgesic/anti-inflammatory effects (from diclofenac) and antispasmodic/anticholinergic effects (from scopolamine) are desired—such as certain types of visceral or pelvic pain with spasm components. However, there are no widely recognized fixed-dose commercial products containing this exact combination; it may be compounded or co-administered off-label in some settings.
