Overview

Tolipain is a fixed-dose combination of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) diclofenac and the centrally acting muscle relaxant tolperisone. Developed by Sanrey Therapeutics, it is indicated for the treatment of pain, stiffness, and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal conditions and muscle spasms. Diclofenac acts by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins. Tolperisone acts as a muscle relaxant by blocking voltage-gated sodium and calcium channels, which inhibits synaptic transmission in the spinal cord and reduces muscle spasticity. This dual-action formulation provides synergistic relief from pain and muscle spasms, improving mobility and recovery in orthopedic and musculoskeletal disorders.
