diclofenac diethylamine

Z7202 is a topical medicated plaster developed by Zambon S.p.A. containing diclofenac diethylamine (DEA) as its active ingredient. It is formulated as a once-daily adhesive plaster designed for local transdermal delivery of diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Diclofenac works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes COX-1 and COX-2, which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. Z7202 is intended for the treatment of acute post-traumatic pain, including pain due to sprains, strains, and contusions. It was evaluated in a Phase 3 randomized clinical trial comparing its efficacy and safety to the twice-daily Flector plaster (which contains diclofenac hydroxyethylpyrrolidine), with Z7202's once-daily dosing regimen representing a potential convenience advantage for patients.
