Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Defonac Gel is a topical analgesic and anti-inflammatory gel developed and manufactured by Gopal Lifesciences. It is a fixed-dose combination formulation containing diclofenac diethylamine, linseed oil, methyl salicylate, and menthol. The gel is indicated for the localized relief of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, joint pain, sprains, strains, backache, and arthritis. Diclofenac diethylamine acts as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis. Methyl salicylate and menthol act as counter-irritants, providing warming and cooling sensations that distract from deeper pain, while linseed oil acts as an emollient and penetration enhancer with mild anti-inflammatory properties.
