Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Relifast is a topical analgesic spray developed by BLS Pharma, primarily indicated for the rapid relief of musculoskeletal pain, including muscle aches, joint pain, backache, sprains, and strains. It is a multi-ingredient small molecule formulation containing diclofenac diethylamine, methyl salicylate, menthol, and linseed oil. Diclofenac diethylamine is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that reduces pain and inflammation by inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, thereby decreasing prostaglandin synthesis. Methyl salicylate and menthol act as counter-irritants; menthol stimulates TRPM8 receptors to produce a cooling sensation, while methyl salicylate provides a warming effect, together modulating pain perception through the gate control theory and improving local circulation. Linseed oil, rich in alpha-linolenic acid, provides additional anti-inflammatory properties and aids in the penetration of the active ingredients. The spray delivery system is designed for fast absorption and convenient application to targeted areas.
