Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Diclofenac etalhyaluronate** is a locally sustained intra-articular anti-inflammatory treatment for osteoarthritis developed by Seikagaku. It is a single covalent hyaluronic acid-diclofenac conjugate in which diclofenac is linked to high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid through a 2-aminoethanol linker. Following injection into the joint, the conjugate provides sustained local release of diclofenac, inhibiting cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 and reducing prostaglandin-mediated pain and inflammation. It is approved in Japan as an intra-articular injection for knee osteoarthritis and has also been evaluated for osteoarthritis affecting other large joints.
