Overview

Dicloftil is an ophthalmic topical solution containing 0.1% diclofenac sodium, a small molecule nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Developed and marketed by Farmigea S.p.A., it is primarily indicated for the treatment of non-infectious inflammatory and painful conditions of the anterior segment of the eye, especially following cataract surgery. The drug functions by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. It is typically supplied in single-dose (monodose) containers to ensure sterility and ease of use, and is approved for marketing in several European countries.
