Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diclotal MR is an approved fixed-dose combination oral tablet manufactured and marketed by Blue Cross Laboratories in India. It is composed of three active ingredients: chlorzoxazone (500 mg), diclofenac (50 mg), and paracetamol (325 mg). Chlorzoxazone is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant that acts primarily at the level of the spinal cord and subcortical areas of the brain to inhibit polysynaptic reflex arcs, thereby reducing muscle spasms and stiffness. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that non-selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes, reducing the synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins. Paracetamol (acetaminophen) is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic that also inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. Diclotal MR is indicated for the symptomatic relief of acute, painful musculoskeletal conditions associated with muscle spasms, such as back pain, neck stiffness, sprains, strains, and post-operative musculoskeletal pain.
