Overview

Deril is a branded generic formulation of dicycloverine (also known as dicyclomine), a small molecule muscarinic receptor antagonist developed and marketed by Navil Laboratories. It is primarily indicated for the symptomatic treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and intestinal colic. Dicycloverine exerts its antispasmodic effects by antagonizing muscarinic acetylcholine receptors (specifically M1 and M3 subtypes) on smooth muscle cells and by exerting a direct relaxant effect on the gastrointestinal smooth muscle, thereby reducing spasms and associated abdominal pain.
