Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Didox is a synthetic small molecule that acts as a ribonucleotide reductase inhibitor. It has been investigated primarily for its antineoplastic (anticancer) and antiviral properties. Mechanistically, Didox inhibits ribonucleotide reductase—an enzyme essential for DNA synthesis—by depleting the pool of deoxynucleotides required for DNA replication and repair. This action impairs the proliferation of rapidly dividing cells such as cancer cells and retroviruses. Didox has shown activity in preclinical models against retroviruses and has been studied in clinical trials for supportive care in gastric cancer and breast cancer[1][2][3][5]. The drug was originally developed by Molecules For Health.
