Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diemai Tongshuan is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically designed for the treatment of ischemic stroke and its recovery phase. The preparation, typically administered in capsule form, is composed of several herbal ingredients, most notably *Pueraria lobata* (Kudzu root) and *Erigeron breviscapus* (Dengzhanxihua). Its primary therapeutic mechanism involves promoting blood circulation, resolving blood stasis, and dredging the meridians to restore neurological function. Pharmacologically, it has been shown to improve cerebral microcirculation, inhibit platelet aggregation, and reduce blood viscosity. Additionally, it may exert neuroprotective effects by modulating oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways associated with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury. It is widely utilized in clinical practice within China as a hospital-made preparation for patients suffering from cerebral infarction and its sequelae.
