Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diena Pharbil is a combined oral contraceptive developed by Pharbil Waltrop GmbH, containing 0.03 mg of ethinylestradiol and 2 mg of dienogest. As a combined hormonal contraceptive, it functions by suppressing the secretion of gonadotropins (FSH and LH), which prevents ovulation. Additionally, it alters the cervical mucus to inhibit sperm penetration and modifies the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of implantation. It was developed as an immediate-release formulation bioequivalent to the reference product Valette. The drug is currently reported as discontinued or out of distribution in its primary markets.
