Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dienestrol diacetate is a synthetic, non-steroidal estrogen of the stilbestrol group and an ester derivative of dienestrol. It acts as an estrogen receptor agonist, mimicking the effects of endogenous estrogens by binding to estrogen receptors in target tissues. This leads to modulation of gene transcription and protein synthesis associated with estrogenic activity. Dienestrol diacetate has been used primarily for hormone replacement therapy, particularly in the treatment of menopausal symptoms such as atrophic vaginitis and kraurosis vulvae. It has also found applications in pharmaceutical research (notably oncology), endocrine studies, cosmetic formulations for its skin benefits, and veterinary medicine for hormone therapy in animals[1][4][5].
