Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diethylamine salicylate is a topical small molecule analgesic and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the symptomatic relief of rheumatic and minor musculoskeletal conditions, including lumbago, fibrositis, sciatica, bruises, and strains. Formulated as a topical cream (such as Agonil Cream), it exerts its therapeutic effects by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins at the site of application. The diethylamine component acts as a penetration enhancer, facilitating the absorption of the active salicylate moiety into deeper tissues to provide localized pain relief and anti-inflammatory effects with minimal systemic exposure.
