Overview

Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate is an organic compound used as a UV filter in sunscreens and cosmetic products. It absorbs ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation, with peak absorption at 354 nm, thereby protecting the skin from acute and chronic photodamage caused by UVA exposure. The compound is oil-soluble and can be incorporated into the oil phase of emulsions. It exhibits good photostability compared to other UVA filters such as avobenzone. In addition to its UV filtering properties, in vitro studies have shown that it has anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting edema formation in inflammation models. Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate was approved for use in Europe in 2005 and is also marketed in the United States, South America, Mexico, Japan, and Taiwan[1][2][3][6].
