Overview

Diethyldithiocarbamate-Cu4O3 is an experimental **diethyldithiocarbamate and mixed-valence copper oxide nanoparticle nanocomplex** containing Cu4O3 nanoparticles with copper in Cu(I) and Cu(II) oxidation states. It was developed in academic preclinical research as an antineoplastic nanoformulation for metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic breast cancer models. The formulation is intended to increase tumor-associated copper delivery and oxidative stress, promoting copper-dependent mitochondrial dysfunction described as cuproptosis, while diethyldithiocarbamate contributes aldehyde dehydrogenase inhibition, glutathione depletion, and proposed proteasome-related effects. In the reported hepatocellular carcinoma study, it showed activity in HepG2 and Huh7 cells and in a chemically induced metastatic mouse model, but it is not an approved medicine and no human clinical development was reported in the supplied source.
