Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Difemerine is a small molecule antimuscarinic agent used primarily for the symptomatic treatment of visceral spasms and gastrointestinal disorders. It acts as an antispasmodic by inhibiting muscarinic acetylcholine receptors in smooth muscle tissue of the gastrointestinal tract. This leads to relaxation of smooth muscle and relief from spasms. Like other anticholinergics, it may cause side effects such as dry mouth, dizziness, blurred vision, and drowsiness; caution is advised in patients with glaucoma or prostatic hypertrophy[2][3][4][5][6].
