Difetarsone is a small molecule antiprotozoal and anthelmintic agent that has been used primarily for the treatment of *Trichuris trichiura* (whipworm) infections and also for *Entamoeba histolytica* infections[1][4][5]. It belongs to the chemical class of aralkylamines and contains arsenic as part of its structure[2][3]. Difetarsone was introduced in the early 1970s when few effective treatments were available for whipworm. Its mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but it acts as an anti-infective agent against protozoa and helminths. Side effects are generally mild (rash, nausea, vomiting), though rare cases of angioedema have been reported[1][5].
