Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Diffusimax is a proprietary pluronic lecithin organogel (PLO) base designed for the transdermal delivery of various active pharmaceutical ingredients. Developed by Maxima Pharmaceuticals, it functions as a sophisticated vehicle that facilitates the transport of drugs across the stratum corneum, the skin's primary barrier. The gel's structure consists of a lecithin-based oil phase and a poloxamer-based aqueous phase, which together create a micellar network capable of solubilizing both lipophilic and hydrophilic compounds. It is widely used in compounding pharmacy settings to create customized topical treatments for pain management, hormone replacement therapy, and other localized or systemic conditions where oral administration is undesirable or less effective due to first-pass metabolism.
