Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Difinsa53 is a topical skin protectant lotion developed by Protechsure Scientific to prevent and treat radiation-induced dermatitis and other forms of skin damage caused by exposure to therapeutic or solar radiation. The product contains dimethicone (1%) as its primary active ingredient, acting as a silicone-based barrier to protect, moisturize, and soothe the skin. Additionally, it includes silibinin, a botanical compound with antioxidant properties that may help mitigate DNA damage in skin cells exposed to radiation. The cream is marketed over-the-counter for use in patients undergoing radiation therapy for cancer—particularly breast cancer—to reduce the severity or incidence of radiation dermatitis. Clinical studies have evaluated its efficacy compared to standard treatments such as Aquaphor.
