Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Diflucortolone valerate fatty ointment** is a very potent topical corticosteroid formulation indicated for the short-term treatment of severe inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis that are unresponsive to less potent corticosteroids. It works by suppressing inflammation and allergic reactions locally in the skin, leading to a reduction in redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort. Diflucortolone valerate is a fluorinated corticosteroid, and topical application suppresses capillary dilatation, intercellular edema, and tissue infiltration, causing regression of inflamed skin and alleviation of subjective complaints such as itching and burning. Typically used when less potent steroids are ineffective[1][3][4][9].
