Overview

Dihydroavenanthramide D (DHAvD) is a synthetic analog of avenanthramides, which are bioactive compounds found in oats. It exhibits anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and has been shown to inhibit mast cell degranulation by acting as an antagonist of the neurokinin-1 receptor (NK1R). DHAvD also reduces secretion of interleukin-6 and inhibits UVB-induced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) as well as matrix metalloproteinases MMP-1 and MMP-3 in human dermal fibroblasts. Additionally, it enhances skin barrier function by promoting keratinocyte proliferation, migration, tight junction protein expression, and restoration of epidermal components disrupted by inflammatory cytokines. These effects make it a promising candidate for topical treatment of chronic pruritus and sensitive skin conditions[1][5][8].
