Dihydroresveratrol is a naturally occurring stilbene derivative and a small molecule polyphenol. It is structurally related to resveratrol but differs by the saturation of the ethylene bridge between its phenolic rings. Dihydroresveratrol exhibits antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and anti-tumor activities. It has been studied for potential use in preparing drugs for cancer, cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, and as an anti-inflammatory agent. Its mechanism of action includes inhibition of leukotriene A4 hydrolase (LTA4H), which plays a role in inflammation by catalyzing the conversion of LTA4 to leukotriene B4 (LTB4), a pro-inflammatory mediator[1][3][5]. Dihydroresveratrol is also used as an antioxidant preservative in food products.
