Overview

Diisopropylamine dichloroacetate (DADA) is a small molecule salt composed of diisopropylamine and dichloroacetic acid, primarily used as a hepatoprotective agent for the treatment of chronic liver diseases such as fatty liver, hepatitis, and early-stage cirrhosis. Mechanistically, DADA acts as an inhibitor of pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase (PDK). By inhibiting PDK, it prevents the phosphorylation and subsequent inactivation of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC), thereby promoting the aerobic oxidation of glucose and improving energy metabolism within hepatocytes. This metabolic modulation helps reduce intrahepatic lipid accumulation and supports liver cell regeneration. In China, it is manufactured and marketed by companies including Nanchang Hongyi Technology (Helioeast) in oral capsule and tablet formulations.
