Overview

Dilanubicel is an off-the-shelf, cryopreserved, non-HLA-matched cellular therapy consisting of ex vivo expanded hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells derived from pooled umbilical cord blood. Developed by Nohla Therapeutics (and later associated with Deverra Therapeutics), it is designed to provide transient bridging hematopoiesis, specifically early myelomonocytic recovery, to reduce the risk of infection and facilitate engraftment in patients undergoing myeloablative cord blood transplantation or intensive chemotherapy for hematologic malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The product is generated by expanding CD34+ cells pooled from multiple donor cord blood units using a proprietary Notch ligand technology platform, allowing for a universal, non-matched administration that avoids the delays associated with traditional donor matching.
