Overview

Dileucine is a dipeptide consisting of two leucine molecules (L-leucyl-L-leucine monohydrate) designed to enhance muscle protein synthesis (MPS) and combat sarcopenia. Unlike free leucine, dileucine is transported into the intestinal endothelium via the high-capacity peptide transporter 1 (PEPT1), leading to faster and more efficient absorption. Research indicates that dileucine significantly increases intramuscular leucine availability and triggers the mTORC1 anabolic signaling pathway more effectively than an equivalent dose of free leucine. It is being developed as a low-volume nutritional intervention to overcome anabolic resistance in aging populations and to improve strength and muscular endurance in resistance-trained individuals.
